Auten Vineyard, a gently sloping site on the west side of Cayuga Lake, was first planted to riesling in 1997, with additional vines added in 2001. The grapes for the 2020 Auten Skin Contact Riesling were hand-harvested, crushed, and fermented on skins for approximately 21 days. The skins were pressed off and the wine sat on lees for one year in stainless steel before bottling, unfined and unfiltered.
